If you are not yet familiar with San Pedro, please continue reading our mini area guide to this beautiful town.

San Pedro de Alcantara is a small town within the Marbella area which has undergone extensive remodeling work over the last few years. It was once a very Spanish, working town with a few shops and a lovely, secluded beach area, known mainly to just the locals.

These days however, it is a thriving resort that has become sought after with property buyers and holiday makers.

The locals are friendly, approachable and hospitable and will make you feel like one of their own. It is a perfect destination to enjoy the sea, good food and its very important cultural heritage.

San Pedro de Alcantara has several places of interest to visit. If you like history, do not miss the early Christian Basilica, which is one of the oldest examples of Christian churches in the entire country. You could also revel in the stunning Roman Villa of Rio Verde and Las Termas de la Boveda known as the first traditional Spa in Costa del Sol.

Recently built, we have the famous Boulevard, which offers a starting point for anyone who wants to walk and enjoy the town’s consistent, gorgeous climate. Here you can frequently enjoy cultural events of all kinds from street food stalls to flamenco dance shows. If you have children, this is a great opportunity for them to enjoy the immense playground areas up and down the boulevard with all types of climbing apparatus, swings and slides.

We suggest you take a walk through the historic centre so you can enjoy the typical coastal architecture, as well as finding places of great beauty, such as the Plaza de la Iglesia. Here you can see the temple that dates back to 1869, its construction ordered by the Marques del Duero, which is the name of the main pedestrian area in the town centre and an urbanisation down towards the beach.

There’s a wide array of different bars and restaurants, making it ideal to appreciate the local tapas and fresh fish which is locally sourced. If that’s not enough there are also many specialised restaurants and shops that will serve unique dishes from all over the world. San Pedro is a real family place too, with terraces filled with people of all ages and backgrounds, offering young and elderly alike, a wonderful and truly unforgettable experience!

Friends Bar de Tapas, Restaurant Alfredo and El Comercio are three of the best traditional restaurants we personally recommend for you to try, offering the very best local Mediterranean cuisine at a reasonable price.

The beaches of San Pedro de Alcantara are the most serene in Marbella. The Linda Vista and Guadalmina beaches are less crowded than some of the main beaches right off of the paseo. The other well known beaches are Cortijo Blanco and San Pedro beach. Both of which are characterized by a wide promenade with a selection of local bars and restaurants.

If you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful lifestyle, San Pedro de Alcantara is definitely the right place to buy your dream home, surrounded by the most traditional style of Andalucian living.

From a property perspective, there are some of the most well known developments in Marbella located in the heart of the resort such as the stylish Jade Beach and Los Arqueros Beach. Being a local estate agent, we have a great selection of top quality resales and new developments to choose from and we look forward to showing you around and sharing a glass of Sangria.
